Dr. Hewa Artin completed undergraduate education at UC Berkeley, where he studied Molecular Cell Biology with an emphasis in Neurobiology. After graduating from Berkeley, he worked as a research associate at UC Los Angeles studying Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and ADHD. He then received a Masters in Medical Sciences from Loyola University Chicago, and completed his Medical Doctorate training at the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine where he received honors in Bioethics and Professionalism.
After receiving his M.D., he completed his general psychiatry residency training at UC San Diego, where he served as Chief Resident and received advanced training in mood and anxiety disorders, substance use, and interventional psychiatry including: ketamine, TMS, and ECT. He also sought additional training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, completing a fellowship at the San Diego Psychoanalytic Center. Beyond this, he has received training in various therapy modalities including clinical hypnosis, psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, and complicated grief therapy. Now, in addition to private practice, he serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the UCLA Department of Psychiatry. He also has a strong interest in teaching and research, and has published and lectured on various topics including addiction, pain, and OCD.Â
